Tianmen Mountain Ropeway Introduction

Tianmen Mountain Ropeway started construction on January 15, 2003, and began operation on September 6, 2005. The total length of the Tianmen Mountain Ropeway is 4.6 miles (7,455 meters), making it the longest alpine passenger ropeway in the world. There are a total of 113 cable cars, the line’s height difference is 4,196 feet (1,279 meters), the running speed is 13 mph (6 m/s), and the one-way running time is 28 minutes.

Tianmen Mountain Ropeway Station

Tianmen Mountain Ropeway, also known as the Grand Ropeway, has three stations, the Lower Station, the Upper Station, and the Middle Station.

The lower station is at Guanliping station in Yongding District, which is conveniently located for tourists from all over the world to reach the mountain.

Tianmen Mountain Ropeway Station

The middle station is nearer to Tianmen Cave and is on the third corner of the mountain winding road, but it usually does not stop for picking up and dropping off passengers, but only serves as a maintenance stop, so please note.

The upper station is set at the Yunmeng Fairy Summit at the top of Tianmen Mountain, where the view is particularly wide and visitors can overlook the mountains.

The last stop of Tianmen Mountain Ropeway is Tianmen Mountain Top, from here you can go to Tianmenshan glass bridge and other attractions.

Other Tianmen Mountain Ropeway

Tianmen Mountain’s other ropeway, the Peak Tram, costs 25 RMB (about $3.5) one way for two people per car, is 800 meters long and takes about 10 minutes to sit down. This ropeway connects the Tianmen Mountain Temple to the main peak of Tianmen Mountain, the Yunmeng Fairy Summit.

This Tianmen Mountain Temple was built during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) in China. this large temple is home to a 2.5 acres (10,000 sqm) plant-based restaurant, which is highly recommended for vegetarians.
