Dan Hulu(Cinnabar Gourd ) attraction is located in zhangjiajie national forest tianzi mountain west, luohan rock up a hundred meters, there is a cylindrical rock peak.
because of the unique shape, the two ends of the big, small in the middle, like a treasure gourd, so it was named Cinnabar Gourd (Dan Hulu).
With a height of 172 meters, the middle neck naturally shrinks to a diameter of only 8 meters, and the top expanded rock layer seems to be the gourd’s stomach, with reddish-brown iron oxide streaks on the surface, adding to the mystery.
Related research found that this place was formed about 320 million years ago during the alternation of land and sea, and the weathering of sandstone layers of different densities created such a rare structure.
At the southeast corner of the platform (coordinates 29.28°N, 110.47°E), if you happen to be there at sunrise, you can see a 20-meter-long rock shadow projected into the complete outline of a gourd.
